  Sin and death - how does it make sense to ANY believer of ANY religion?

  since adam and eve’s fall, we are all sinners.

  it’s what we do, there is no way to change it, sinning is a daily part of life.

  there are major sins, but most of us commit minor ones everyday in words, thoughts or deeds.

  The human race - that you despise - is better now than in any time in history. Our story is one of amazing progress.

  An old sister was once having a right old moan to me about how bad this system is since Satan arrived here in 1914. I asked her if she would have preferred to have lived before 1914 without Satan's influence. She would probably have been working in a coal mine or as my female forebears did, a stone quarry, no NHS and no Social Services to keep her in relative comfort in her old age.

  She was a bit cool with me for a while after that.

  Meetings disrupted due to zoom outage

  zoom been down in parts of the uk today so church services and meeting been disrupted.. a news paper published some comments and jokes about it .

  Trying to get my head around these go bags

  when i was looking at prepping back in the 90s i was told by several elders that we needed to just rely on the org and jehovah and not prep.

  i started to put away vacuum sealed bags of rice beans and spices anyway.

  now they have this go bag crap.

  For the majority of us, certainly here in the UK, it's not a "Go Bag" that we need but a "Stay Bag". Not a literal bag of course but provisions set aside for an unexpected event. This event is not necessarily a major calamity such as we are currently facing but just a bad winter with snow such that we don't want to go out shopping, unexpected sickness or whatever.

  In the US they are called "preppers" and attract scorn and derision but preparing for future events is a very sensible thing to do. I cannot understand so many in my congregation have so little to no provisions set aside. I think they work on the "Jehovah will provide" idea. Well he hasn't and he won't.

  today is the 75th anniversary of the end of wii in europe.

  they were a special generation who were literally prepared to give their lives rather than submit to fascism.

  millions paid the ultimate price.

  All my neighbours had their Union Jacks flying today, even the Spanish family. We were raised as JW's to never have gratitude for what these people sacrificed for us. Very sad.

  When the written review was instigated, 1959 I think, you filled in the answers and after 30 minutes handed your paper in to the TMS Servant. He marked the paper and returned it the following week. Each of the 25 questions were worth a maximum of 4 points so you ended up with a percentage. I noted on the example you provided someone had faintly entered "4" in the answer part.

  the TMS Servant would announce the average percentage and the maximum grade (no names of course) and review a few of the questions that caused the most problems.

  Exchanging your paper with someone else or marking your own paper came much later.

  A role call was made at the start of the meeting but only for those who were in the Ministry School.

  JW's would have a fit if they had to do that today!

  The Myth About Jehovah as a "GOD of LOVE".

  i`ll list a few things and welcome any input, comments you may have .. 1.when adam & eve "sinned" disobeyed him, surely god could have handled it better than to condemn all future generations to disease and death ?.

  2.his handling of satan who supposedly seduced eve to disobey god could also have been done a lot differently with a finality to it.. 3.i find little if anything in his dealings with the patriarchs that suggests a loving god protecting them.?.

  4.taking on the nation of israel and leading them as his chosen people does not inspire confidence or trust as a god of love.. 5.throughout the hebrew scriptures / old testament his chosen people were constantly at war with other nations which of course would have meant many deaths of the israelite`s during these battles .and the grief that comes with family members in those times.

  Children called Elisha, a prophet of Jehovah, "Baldy Head" so he cursed them and a couple of bears tore 42 of them to pieces. Very loving.
